Playlist #1: Mood Swingin’

Posted every Friday, hear my weekly playlist including some old and some new. This week we got some of the new The Internet, 6 Dogs, Trippie Redd, Wintertime and others.

The Internet, “La Di Da”

The Internet just released their new album, “Hive Mind,” today and I already love it. This track is my favorite and Syd absolutely kills it with her vocals, a different groove than what she normally does. Also, Steve Lacy’s funky guitar riff adds so much groove to this that it’s kinds hard not to like it. When Syd is like “I’m sorry that I’m so blasé/
Why you dancin’ like your name Sade?” 12/10

Trippie Redd, “I Kill People!”

Let’s talk about the contrast between the song above and this one haha

This new one by Trippie Red feat. Tadoe and Chief Keef is pretty good. I hate the cover photo for this YouTube audio but whatever, I’ll live.

6 Dogs, “Faygo Dreams”

6 Dogs emerged from Soundcloud and over the last few years he has gained a lot of momentum. He combines super minimalistic hip-hop sounds with hypnotic elements to create this totally unique sound. I’ve listened to this nonstop over the last week and probably won’t stop listening to it anytime soon.

Favela, “Easy Yoke”

My really good friend, Eamon, showed me this song about five years ago and this thing has never aged. Favela, based in the UK, is a producer with chill vibes but a strong, emotional voice. This tracked is backed with pulsing violins and percussion, as well as really thoughtful lyrics. Favela’s EP “Community” came out a few months ago and features “Easy Yoke.”

Haute, “Shut Me Down”

Overall, awesome trance sounds between the male and female vocalists. Super smooth sounding and a good pick me up on a gloomy day. I love Anna Majidson’s self-empowerment this whole song when she’s saying how she’s regaining control and “don’t come back for me.” Her lyrics “Probably, You’re missing me/ But I can see, I’ve got to be by myself,” it’s like a big hell yeah, self love.

Wintertime, “Cold at Night”

We gotta end the first weekly playlist with a bang. Wintertime is pretty nice and I’m pretty excited to see how he keeps going.

Caitie Santo

Hi, my name is Caitie Santo. I am a 22-year-old living in Chicago, Illinois. I was born in Fremont, California but later attended school at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. I graduated with a degree in marketing and I am currently working for a business management consulting firm in Chicago.
I was exposed to the arts at a young age, and my appreciation grew as I pursued a professional career in ballet several years ago. Although that career path ended during my first year in college, my experience is still deeply intertwined with how I describe myself, whether it is the music I listen to, the things I do, or the things I wear. I hope to continue developing my artistic expression through the various projects I work on including this blog, where I will share whatever comes to my mind.
